What is Health Insurance?
Health insurance is a plan that helps cover medical expenses such as doctor visits, treatments, hospitalization and medications — protecting your finances against unexpected health events. At Green Insurance we help individuals and families find affordable health insurance plans that fit their needs and budget, including ACA marketplace coverage with government subsidies. Our bilingual agents guide you through every step of the process in English and Spanish.
Who we help with health insurance
- People who are self-employed or freelance, with no employer plan
- People between jobs whose COBRA quote made no sense
- Workers whose employer offers no coverage, or none that includes the family
- Young adults turning 26 and leaving a parent’s plan
- Newcomers to the United States with no coverage at all
A licensed agent can walk you through the options in about twenty minutes, at no cost.
How enrollment works
In Georgia, enrollment goes through the federal Health Insurance Marketplace. Open Enrollment runs from November 1 through January 15, for coverage that starts the following year.
Outside those dates you need a Special Enrollment Period, which a life event triggers: losing job-based coverage, getting married or divorced, having a baby or adopting, moving to a new ZIP code or county, or aging off a parent’s plan at 26. You usually have 60 days from the event, so if you are inside that window, act before it closes.

Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum: what they mean
The metal tier does not measure how good your care is. It measures who pays what.
| Tier | Monthly premium | Cost when you use it |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | Lowest | Highest |
| Silver | Middle | Middle |
| Gold | Higher | Lower |
| Platinum | Highest | Lowest |
A common mistake is choosing Bronze because the premium looks best, then finding the deductible out of reach. If you take regular medication, see specialists or expect a procedure, the cheapest premium often ends up being the most expensive plan.
Silver deserves a second look: if your income qualifies for cost-sharing reductions, they apply only to Silver plans, which can make Silver cheaper to actually use than Bronze.
What you may pay, and what to check before you enroll
Your premium depends on your income, your age, your county and how many people are on the plan, and most people who enroll through the Marketplace qualify for a premium tax credit. We do not publish sample prices, because a figure that fits one household is wrong for the next. A licensed agent gives you your real numbers.
Check your doctors
In-network and out-of-network visits for the same appointment can differ by hundreds of dollars. Give us your doctors’ names and we verify the networks before you enroll.
Dental and vision
Marketplace medical plans usually leave out adult dental, so it is a separate policy. We write dental in all 50 states and can quote it at the same time.
Lawfully present immigrants
If you have a green card or are an immigrant with legal status, you can enroll in the Marketplace, and the five-year waiting period does not apply to the Marketplace. An agent explains how it works for your household.
